I like the drawing better then the 3d animation :’(

i do love the drawings, but the animation is still way cool

i think the proportions changed a lot in the 3d version

don’t get me wrong, i love hewlett’s work and he’s a big inspiration for me

but i freakin’ love those 3D models

they’re every bit as intentionally ugly and grungy as Hewlett’s own style allows for while also being very distinctly their own thing

the only thing i don’t dig is that occasionally the animation can feel a liiiiittle stiff or just doesn’t quite work as well as it needs to

but this is coming from the 2D videos which were often VERY limited, save for the standalone animated shorts

seriously, we’re getting some of the best animation the Gorillaz have experienced yet

and the blending of live action is almost flawless

would i like 2d animation in place of this? it’d definitely be cool, sure, but man

this is the kind of 3D i really like to see

I do like the 3D, but I miss the 2D animation from the Phase 1 era. Hewlett has stated several times in the past that he absolutely hates animating these characters, so it’s pretty unlikely that we’ll see a lot more 2D animated videos from them. “Melancholy Hill” was sort of the exception, since it had both 2D and 3D elements, but, from what I remember, the 2D animation was rather limited in comparison to the other.
